Pumpkin Dress!

Hey guys,

So here we have the tutorial for the pumpkin dress in which I posted about here.

Ready, steady....

Here we go!!

       You will need:

  • A figure
  • Fabric Scissors
  • Orange thread
  • Green thread
  • Needle
  • Elastic cord
  • Orange felt
  • Pins

STEP 1.

Thread your needle with the orange thread.
 STEP 2.

Cut a rectangle of orange felt, 10 CM width, 6.8 CM height. Fold over the .8 CM so that your height is 6 CM.

Pin it in place with the pin.
 STEP 3.

Sew a straight stitch across the line you folded over, but make sure you do this at the bottom of the fold over, like where my finger is, or else the next step will verge on very very very hard.
 STEP 4.

Now this is where your sewing at the bottom will come in handy. You need to thread the elastic cord through the gap. You could try attaching the cord to a small safety pin, and it might be easier to pull it through.

Tie the cord in a knot so that it joins together in a circle.

STEP 5.

Put your figure in the dress, and carefully with a pen mark out where the arms are. Then take off the dress and cut on the marks, and you should end up with nice little armholes!!

(Awkward Auckland weather. Rain)
STEP 6.
Get your orange thread again and thread it...

Start in the middle of the dress. Also, always start sewing from the back of the dress, so that you can't see the massive knot....    Can you see the little red dot??? That is my thread.....

You're going to want to sew a kind of square shape, like this, and you will connect the thread later.

Then, once you've done the square, go back up and connect it up with diagonal lines, so it looks a little bit like a pumpkin (?)

Once you've made the shape, come back up and make a line going from the top to the bottom.

Repeat this step until you have three lines, the biggest one being in the middle.

STEP 7.

Thread your green thread, and make little up-down stitches to look like the stalk of a pumpkin. It can be as big or as little as you like...
AND YOU'RE DONE!!!!!! GOOD JOB!!!!!

You have successfully made your pumpkin dress!

These are the two that I have, and personally I think that the first one I made was better, which is the one on the left, because the one on the right's pumpkin is really small and puny.

Oh well.

So yeah. I hope you liked this tutorial!!!

More will hopefully be up soon! I'm on a roll!

Lucy :)
